Hey all,
I got a copy of Parks road closure plan for Rockfest, it is a bit hard to interpret, so attaching in case I am misreading it. If I'm reading it right, there will be no access to the dp Sat./Sun., unless the roadblock gatekeepers decide to let dp users in (dogs in car should provide your proof where you're going). Since there has been no specific mention of that (letting in dp users) being a guideline, I wouldn't assume they will let you in. I DO believe they should let you in Friday, when (again, if I am reading right) Wyandotte will be partially blocked. If they don't, let me know, I will complain- I also got the community Rockfest contact (thanks Zeke!) who is supposed to address any issues, can contact them.

---------------------------------

I also found some info (thanks Joyce) on the American Cancer Society 'Bark for Life' event next weekend here. It sounds like a big, deal, with a stage, events (agility and canine good citizenship tests), etc. I am asking the contact person they list about where the various things will be going on, and if they have any parking plans, will pass that on if I get it. Sounds like a cool event, just hope they have things set up in a logical manner. Don't blame us if it isn't, nobody asked. :)

Later, enjoy the dp before Rockfest!

See below email sent to the list, to buy tickets, hit the button in the previous post- thanks!
-----------------------------------------

Hey folks, the fundraiser at Boulevard is less than a week away (4/18), tickets are starting to go fast. Here are some more details- go get your tickets at diginthepark.com ASAP!

Food-
We will have Pizza 51 pizza and salad, plus cake from Cake Me I'm Yours. We will eat a little after 6PM.

Raffle-
Each attendee will get one raffle ticket, additional raffle tics can be bought (cash or check), too, to increase your chances. We plan on doing a 'choice' raffle, where put your ticket(s) in for only the items you want. Guarantees you get something you want, and can greatly increase your chances to get what you want. We're looking at over a dozen raffle items, so with only 35 attendees, you're chances of winning something is great!

Silent Auction-
We will also be auctioning a few big items- again, should have a great shot at getting something cool really cheap with only 35 folks. Bring cash or check to take home your item that night (if high bid, of course), we can take a credit card payment, but it complicates things a bit, and may mean you will have to pick up your item later.

Here are some of the items we will be raffle/silent auction-ing (yes, not a word, probably :)-
LOTS of Greenies products
Cupcakes from Small Cakes Bakery.
Big basket of stuff from City Pets.
Boulevard goodies
more that we're still working on...
Go get your tickets at diginthepark.com today before they're gone!

Remember, all proceeds benefit the Penn Valley dogpark, outside of 10% to Chain of Hope.

About DIG

The Dogpark Improvement Group (DIG) is a volunteer, non-profit organization composed of individuals coming together to raise funds to improve the Penn Valley Dogpark in Kansas City, MO. The group was started by MaryBeth Norsworthy in June of 2006

DIG planted eight maple trees in the park in late Fall of 2006, and has been instrumental in working with city government to improve the dogpark. A DIG PIAC request was approved in 2007 to provide $155,000 for park expansion and a parking lot.

DIG uses an e-mail list to communicate with members.

The only requirement for DIG membership is an in-person / e-mailed request to be a member, along with agreeing to work constructively in the group and respect the opinions of others. Please e-mail digannouncements@gmail.com to join!

As of May 2009, the group has 191 members.
