Hey there,
We decided to put some of the money made in the 'Dog's Life' fundraiser into a toy purchase, let me know if you have requests. Here is a preliminary list of what we will get- Tim at City Pets is going to give them to us at cost:
1. Jollyballs (big balls)
2. Dog specific frisbees
3. Tug of war ropes
4. squeaky balls (lots)
5. some chew type toys
6. a couple of chuckits (will try to keep as 'park' chuckits)
7. whatever you suggest
Expect Parks and Recreation to schedule a public meeting later this month to share the park expansion plans.

Hello everyone,
The 'A Dog's Life' fundraiser was a great success- we made around $830. Part of the money will be going to a toy purchase, part to our 501(c)3 application, which will be submitted soon. Thanks to everyone who helped, came, or in any way assisted in the effort. And the play WAS really great, you missed a fun night if you didn't make it. If you get another chance to see it, I would recommend it- and I hate musicals.
Sent to list tonight-
Hello all,
Tomorrow night is 'A Dog's Life' at America Heartland Theater, reception 6:15-7:15, showtime 7:30. If you have bought tickets, we will have vouchers for you (if you don't already have one) tomorrow night. Snacks, a free drink, and a raffle for the theaters suite on a future night at the reception. We should be able to get additional tickets tomorrow night unless the show sells out- if you want to come but haven't bought, come buy them tomorrow night (update- NO TICKETS AVAILABLE ADJACENT TO OR IN OUR BLOCK- TICKETS SHOULD BE AVAILABLE, BUT NOT WITH THE GROUP). Big thanks to Polsinelli Law Firm for purchasing a sizable block of tickets- with their help, we sold over 60 overall and will come away with a respectable take for the bank account.
We have been invited to participate in the Pet Expo
Spay and Neuter Kansas City (SNKC - http://www.snkc.net/) is a great organization located on Main in KCMO (not far from the park) that provides free and low cost spay/neuter services to hundreds of cats and dogs monthly. They have prevented a huge number of homeless pets by their hard work.
SNKC needs volunteers! I know from experience that volunteering is fun and fulfilling. These services are a huge help to poor pet owners and their pets, allowing them to do the right thing for the pets they love.
See the email below for volunteer opportunities 4/14, 4/18, 4/19, 4/21, 4/25, and 4/29. Contact me (prrkc@yahoo.com) or SNKC directly through the volunteer tab on their site with questions or if you want to sign up!
Hi Everyone,
April is looking to be a busy, busy, busy (did I say busy?) month and we're hoping you'll be able to help us make each event a success. Please let me know if you can help with any of the events and what position you would like to do.

Our PIAC request was approved- $155,000 is reserved in this year's budget to expand the park and put in a new parking lot. Per Parks and Rec, the funding will be available in June, and after the bidding process it should be mid-late July or early August when work starts. The park planner will be meeting with us and the general park population later to discuss her preliminary park plans.

Hello all,
Per Parks and Recreation, parking on the gravel area off Wyandotte is not OK. They will be ticketing people. I apologize to anyone we directed to park in that area- it turns out J.E. Dunn dumped the gravel and Parks and Rec was never cool with parking anywhere along Wyandotte.
There is good news- the reason Parks and Rec needs to keep the area clear is to complete a parking lot for the park, park expansion up to Wyandotte, and recover the soil in the area. They have committed to doing this this year, regardless of how our PIAC request comes out. They have told me they will commence work once funding is in place, which will hopefully be very soon.
I appreciate that parking will be a serious problem until the work is done, but progress comes with a price. Be aware
Two break-ins were witnessed Saturday, 3/11. Both were in the small parking area off of 29th St. (street that goes down to Broadway):
10:30AM- gold Nissan Altima/Maxima with tinted windows- Black male, 20's, clean shaven, short hair, medium build observed getting back into car- two vehicles with broken windows. Car drove up to Wyandotte and slowly drove along construction area.
Noon- dark gray, small, newer car, possibly Honda Accord or small Pontiac- Car was observed backing in beside car, paused there briefly, then pulled out and backed in beside another car. Trunk popped open on car parked next to (door was unlocked- actually my car, which I generally always lock). Black male was seen peeking around end of car to look in trunk. Vehicle quickly backed out of spot and drove down to Broadway.
KCMO PD was called on both occasions- two patrol cars were sent.
Some things we can all do to help:
Don't bring valuables to the park, or if you do, bring them into the park with you!
Hello everyone,
As you should have seen from earlier emails, we have a fundraiser at the American Heartland Theater in April. I apologize profusely, but I will be sending another blast email out shortly; it turns out we DON'T need to charge sales tax. We will refund any tax overpayments at the reception- however, you can be assured that this next version is correct, as is the website. Please buy your tickets early if at all possible, and spread the word to your friends. We have reserved a large quantity of tickets, and need to sell as many as we can as quick as we can. We will likely return all unsold tickets on March 28th- don't wait!
We will soon be sending out some fliers via email that you can post.
WOOF, the Brookside/Waldo dogpark group, will be marching in the Brookside St. Patty's Day parade Saturday, March 10. Deb Hipp, the main WOOFer, graciously invited DIG to join in and help show our support for a Brookside/Waldo dogpark. Here is the info-
Someone finally observed a break-in at the park.
The vehicle the criminals were driving was is a Gold Nissan Altima/Maxima with tinted windows. The car pulled up very close (probably to be able to look inside and see if there was anything to steal) to the car that was broken into (it was parked in the side area off of the street that goes down to Broadway- 30th?). Two black males got out of the car, broke the driver's side window with a hammer, snatched a purse, and immediately jumped in their car and drove away.
If you see a car matching this description lurking around the area, CALL 911. Also try to get more information- license, drivers appearance, which way they went, etc. Please be careful- let the police do the job of apprehending them.
If you have information that you think could be of use to the police, send me the info and I can pass it on. And don't leave valuables in plain site in cars- I didn't hear exactly where the purse was, but with them pulling up close, I wonder if they would have driven away if they couldn't see anything to steal.
Hopefully these are the only perpetrators, and we can get them caught and eliminate the problem.
Later,
PRR
Hello everyone,
Per Jill of K9 Club, Daniel Bennison has decided to fully pay the vet bills from the attack on Lola the Sharpei, and has said he will not bring his dog George back to the park.
